Course Description

This six-week class in the study of sketch comedy writing is perfect for beginners. Some of the skills the class covers include:  - Experience working in a writers room environment - Learn to write the Five different Sketch Types that exist - How to turn ideas (even small ones) into actual scripts and content - Breaking down famous sketch shows and writing in their style - Create one-off and recurring sketch pieces/characters for social media - Win/Win techniques for pitching your ideas to others No prior writing or comedy experience is necessary. Just an interest and desire to write! Each student will also receive FREE curated video resources to enhance their overall learning experience. ​ Class Size: 12 students; everyone will get plenty of feedback and individual attention. Length: Sessions are 2.5 hours, and meets for 6 weeks online. There will be required writing assignments/deadlines each week that require writing software- we'll let you know some free programs if you don't already have it. :) ** NOTE: Class #1 is the Foundations Class and CANNOT be missed. Those who miss week 1 will not be able to participate in the course. All terms apply. **

(See full Terms: www.improv-la.com/terms) CLASS POLICY: • Our group classes are 18 years and up. • All courses are non-refundable and all sales are final. Under rare circumstances, there may an option to transfer you an equivalent course provided you contact us via email at least 7 days prior to the start of the original course. Transfers are not guaranteed.  If we are able to provide a transfer, this can only be applied one time and there will be a $35 processing fee. Any transfer requests after this will require a full re-registration for the course. Any transfers expire after 30 days of being offered. • By registering, you are making a commitment to attend and be on time for all classes to the best of your ability. However being absent up to 2 days is acceptable if needed and we can provide notes on what was covered. Missing 3 or more classes will be disruptive to the overall group and you will not be allowed to return to the session, receive notes, and will result in not passing. GOVERNING LAW • These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without reference to its conflict of laws principles. • By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you agree to fully and completely release and waive Improv-LA of any and all claims for personal injury or loss, including any costs and attorney fees.
